So when I first found out about Napster being sued, I didnt care much. Sure, those people who blamed noone but Metallica were ass holes, but other than that, I was pretty much neutral.
Then, after ignoring the media for about a year (since nothing cool was going on anyway) I found out that people were not only still bitching about Napster being sued, but also blaming Metallica and noone else!
First of all, these people who blamed Metallica were Britney Spears and Greenday fans. Newsflash, fuckheads- They sued napster too- along with billions of other bands that you all know and love. Yes, I know Lars was the one who helped out, but god damn! Millions of other people helped out just the same.
I remember seing this one scene in SKOM where these people gathered a bunch of Metallica CD's and smashed them to pieces. Good job dumbasses, you gave Metallica a free 13 dollars despite the fact that you want Metallica to go broke. And millions of people say they will never buy Metallica again and then they go out to buy their CD's and smash them and send the video to the band. That's like just giving away money! It's saying "We hate you. Here's a hundred dollars."
Also, there was one article by Maddox (who, before I read what I am about to mention, was my favorite internet ranter... Okay, he still is, but all the other ones suck anyway.) saying that Metallica addmited in an interview that their last two albums were dogshit. I wanted to get something straight- Metallica has never said their last two albums sucked. They were proud of all of their albums. If you want to prove me wrong, send me a video of the interview- UNEDITED! If anything is changed, I will notice.
You people have Limewire anyway. But wait- file sharing programs like Limewire are illegal- not only music wise- but also, some people who use Limewire provide CHILD PORN! James has said afterwards (I guess it was interview in middle of the 2004 tour), that St. Anger wasn't that good because they should have done some songs different. He didn't say album sucked, though.

First, Peer to peer programs aren't illegal. The content which people share, that might be illegal. And you have to know that some countries downloading music or sharing it isn't illegal yet. Child porn is illegal almost everywhere, I guess, so in DC++ hubs bot usually kicks users which have "9 year old incest doggy fuck with cute pussy" -type filenames.

In Norway, downloading isn't illegal because the cops have more important stuff to do than arrest kids who love music.

Personally, I hate downloading, and I try not to download full albums. I only do that when 1) it fucking rules and can't be found in stores (although usually I just order them), 2) I'm fucking skint, or 3) need it for a school project.

Other than that, instead of buying clothes and shit, I use my scholarship to buy cds. I also buy Metal Hammer which throws in a free metal compilation every month.

And like 'Lus said, I like physically owning the album, artwork and all, and seeing them in my shelf.
