Paranormal Activity

Postby Metallifreak on Mon Oct 12, 2009 6:39 pm

Has anyone in the States seen it? Its been released on limited theater release and is doing quite well, considerting the budget was only 15,000.

I just saw it last night and its a genuinely good film. Its got a great minimalist buildup instead of just relying on effects and gore. Well worth the 9 bucks or whatever it is to see it.

I saw it. Thought it was stupid. It was slow for most of the movie!

Weak. Definately not as scary as that commercial made it up to be.

I'm supposed to be going to see it in an hour. A mate won some tickets to an advance screening of it, not sure if I could be fucked though.

So, I guess it's playing in Australia soonish.

Lots of hate. I mean it wasn't meant to be like a huge hollywood film in any case. Its pretty minimalistic like it was on purpose.

Oh and a candidate for the worst movie ever, is this one:

That movie is definitely in the "so bad it's good" category.
For me, the worst movie ever would have to piss me off. Like, watching it would put me in agonizing pain and disbelief.
So my candidates:

Manos: Hands Of Fate
Twilight
Star Wars Episode I

That's it off the top of my head.

As for worst movie ever quality wise... Look up black devil doll from hell. You all have no idea.
Also, the quadead zone which was made by the same people.

Nobody can rightfully hate on a movie that cost 11,000 bucks and brought it NINETY MILLION DOLLARS in under a month. That shit is insane.....but the movie was pretty lackluster

Damn. There's the appeal of the "minimalism" aspect people keep talking about.

So, would you recommend this? Is it even scary?

And furthermore is it a "take someone hot with you" movie ;D? I don't really care what's on the screen, I just need something fun to do for an evening. I need to make sure its not too effed up....cause the person I have in mind isn't really a horror fan .

EDIT: but he wants to see it. I'm kinda thinking it's a total blaircloverfield to be honest.

Gonna try and actually see it this week-end.

There's no way it'll be as good as Zombieland.

There's no way it'll be good as G. I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. That movie gives TRON a run for its money as best movie of all time.

I like the minimalistic approach, but the characters absolutely killed it for me. I just couldn't buy it.

Saw it yesterday with some friends.
I thought it was entertaining. It had it's creepy moments, but it's not gonna impress you if you're looking for a typical action filled horror flick.
