I agree 100% that it is Justice. Weirdly enough, that was the first Metallica album I got into. But I didn't appreciate songs like "...And Justice For All" and "To Live Is To Die" until much later.

You know what I changed my mind. Orion is the best. I love Ktulu very much but I realized it is a little repetitive (but still unbelievably awesome). Now I have absoultely no idea where To Live is to die is on there.

Metallica, but Hallowed be thy Name and The Wicker Man are just fucking amazing songs to belt out whether or not you can sing just belt out the lyrics to hallowed be thy name.. It's fucking cool.

Bruce's vocals aren't like squeelish like Dave Mustaine's.. But He has a likable thrash metalish voice. And Dave has improved too.

Guitaring: Lead giutar: Kirk Hammett hands down
Rhythm: As forementioned Maiden does some crazy harmonizing and it is a beautiful sound *like on To Live is to Die, the guitar is beautiful there too!*

Drums: Maiden for sure. Sorry Lars, it WAS close but Maiden is just better here.

Bass: It's hard to judge Rob, maybe he'll pull some crazy lines out of his ass. Or maybe he won't. Cliff was AMAZING!!
Jason was great too, I sort of liked his back up vocals on certain tracks.

However Maiden here too, because with the everchanging Metallica, I can't rate the new bassist Rob very well. Gotta see him live soon!

he has many great fast solos... but how about the first two solos in one, fade and sanitarium those solos are slow and melodic but they kick so much ass!!! "One" solo has been always rated on the top of all lists... Kirk is god but so is James I wouldn't like to compare them

Interesting that you think you believe that Kirk, Rob and Lars could all be replaced, despite the fact they have never been replaced. While Clff, who has been replaced, is considered by you to be irreplaceable?

Having said that, I believe that it should be realised that I'm using the term "replaced" very loosely. 'Replaced' means to take the place of someone, or to provide a substitute for something. I don't see Jason as being a substitute for Cliff or taking his place, and I don't see Rob as being a substite for Jason or taking his place. I know they have assumed the role of playing their instruments, but they are in now way taking the place of that person. Rob, Jason and Cliff are all completely different on stage with different personalities, and different bass-playing styles.

I prefer to look at Jason and Rob as continuing a 'journey' (can't think of a better analogy) but continuing it in their own way. They're not trying to be anyone else, but to do their own thing. An example of was during Rob's audition. Rob told them that while he can play with a pick if they'd like, he prefers to play with his fingers. They told him to play it however he'd like (and even made mention of the fact that Cliff played with his fingers). So Rob wasn't, and hasn't been, trying to copy anyone or do it the same as Cliff or Jason, just as Jason didn't try to copy Cliff. Which is why I don't see Rob or Jason as having replaced somone, in the sese that most people here are using the word, but they have just picked up where the others left off.

No...I don't consider myself "high standard" at playing solos what-so-ever, but I would like to know (if you can remember) is there any recommended order to learn them in? I can do the simple ones like the intro. to "Sanitarium", and the last one in "to Live is to die"...and others like the interlude solo of "Master of Puppets" and the solo on "Nothing else Matters"

Are there any solos I should try to sort of "bridge the gap" between the easy ones and the more complicated ones?

The first solo to Fade to Black is a really fun one to play, and if your advanced enough to start fingertapping (don't be offended if your way past that i just don't know how advanced you are) try the end solo "one" that first part to the solo is a good one to learn your fingertapping techinque on, that was my first real fingertapping solo that i learned. It really help my technique.

if i ever get a chance to talk to the band i will suggest it. and i might also say that they should do it in stockholm, sweden, the place of cliffs last show. the only problem would be organizing the setlist. should they do it in order that they appear on the albums, with orion and to live is to die back to back? i guess that should be up to the band. but i think they should open with anesthesia and close with TLITD.
