I would have to say the master of puppets.  All their songs have good intros with the exeption of most the St. Anger albumn.  >:( When they released St. Anger i was disapointed

Hmm too many to list, but I guess the most exciting item from my collection would be the Master Of Puppets Eropean Tour crew itinerary (an internal book for band & crew with all venues/adresses listed).

Hey, I want a sig too man!
I was thinking about a picture of the band during the Master Of Puppets-period, in green and dark-blue.
"Saint Anger" (in red)
"Freedom no longer frees you" (also in red)
I hope you can make this possible...

I loved S&M at the beginning, too...
But now I don't really care much about it anymore....
I loved Ktulu and No Leaf Clover but I hated (and still hate) the Master Of Puppets version...
I think you are fascinated quite a long time by the -from time to time overwhelming- sound of a broad orchestra, but after that you come back to listening to the more "pure", "concentrated" original versions of the songs (I don't know how I should describe that more appropriate...)

Agreeing with what everyone else said, I'll add this. If they play faster it can cut a lot of time off the track. I read somewhere about how on the Master of Puppets tour they got Ride the Lightning down to a 3 minute song.

View entire thread: Simple Solos - Better?
Posted by cloudnine on 12/19/04 @ 11:49 PM    Post subject: Simple Solos - Better?

I was thinking lately, and I noticed that most of my favourite/memorable solos (from Metallica mostly, but elsewhere too) have been relatively simple ones. I'm talking about things like the Master of Puppets interlude, Nothing Else Matters, and My Friend of Misery, the One opening fills/solos/whatever you want to call them for example(s).

I think it's actually MORE difficult to design a memorable, beautiful, and awesome solo that isn't as technically abstract/complicated. Shredding and playing blisteringly gets extremely tired after awhile, and things like Van Halen's Eruption have never impacted on me emotionally or anything - it's like, "Okay, it's fast...but now what?"

Not saying that Kirk's solos are boring or bad by any means (well, some were, but that's another argument), just that I think, overall, the less complicated solos happen to be the ones that really hit me emotionally.

Thoughts, anyone?

All the records in all their glory:

I am old fashioned and use a film camera, so I couldn't take many photos :P  Here is the inlay from the Master of Puppets record:

And the back of the $5.98 EP (such a cool cover!)

All in all I am utterly and completley satisfied with this piece of collectable metallica.  It is well made, well presented and is just plain COOL!

Now... the question... should I listen to it...?  I WANT TO!  ah the dilema's of the collector!  :P

that was funny.

You should hear him sing Puppets, he sounds pretty damn killer. See if this link works. If it doesnt, then go to Kerrangs website and click the Master of Puppets album logo on the main page and scroll down to hear the samples. I have a hunch youll like what you hear.

I had heard it before and I almost puked at the vocals. I rather think that Trivium ought to have been an instrumental group.

But we'll see how they turn out on the next album. I might enjoy it a wee bit more.
