right after nothing else matters it was one of the best moments in my life
Same with Ottawa...if there is ever a song that screams 'WAKE UP FUCK!' right after a slow song Master Of Puppets commands it! |

| Up until last year I had never listened to Metallica (or matal for that matter). I read a review of St. Anger, saying it was really good, and that Metallica hadn't played this heavy since Master Of Puppets in 1986. So I thought maybe I should try these guys, and I allowed myself to download an mp3 of the song Master Of Puppets. I can still feel the shivers running down my spine as the magical diversity of that song kept my ears spellbound for the next 8:35 minutes, and the next 8:35 minutes after that, and the next... Didn't take me long to get my ass down to the records store and pick up this Master of Masterpieces. Thank you, Metallica, for letting me discover my love for metal, and for my favourite song ever! (Even though I've heard lots of great stuff, no song has ever beaten Master of Puppets, as far as I'm concerned.) |

| To tell you the truth, not 4 months ago I believed that this album was all hype. 3 good songs, nothing else. Then on a trip with my father to Detroit, I was prooved miserably wrong. With an open mind and hunger for another taste of MOP's hype, I stuck the disc in my CD player and blasted it. I didnt even know it but I was headbanging and trying to sing along......
Battery: One of my "three original" songs so to speak :D Everyone knows about the nice little guitars starting it off for us.... And everyone knows about how the song sowly builds until you are sitting there banging away goin.. "BATTERY" Opens up heavy, we get a little solo in there and a nice little finishing part at the end of the song at abuot the 4:45 mark. My god, an all time favourite of mine.
Master of Puppets: OK, this song rocks.. review is done..... OK, well if you want be to try and describe it, basically we get about a minute and abit opening, some singing, "COME CRAWLING FASTER.. OBEY YOUR MASTER" crazy shit.... and then at about the 3, 4 minute mark? we get a really nice james hetfield melodic solo that blows me away everytime. Why do I love it? I dunno. I jsut do... And you do/ will too! After that wwe get another 3 minutes or so of solos and hard, heavy rock biatch! Greatest Tallica song ever? Quite possibly!
The Thing That Should Not Be: Apparently James' favourite song.. One he thinks is real heavy... For me personally, nd this is not the case with most others i know... this song IS heavy, is great, but drags on alot and is repetitive. Such is the case with Disposible Heroes, I love em both but they are repetitive and after awhile you just wanna skip the track.. Funny thing is though this always seems to bring me back... Im always goi back to hear this song.....strange... Anywayz.. basically its hard, slow, kina Bellz-like, and great! Repetitive though in conclusion.
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)- Top 3 or 4 song on this album... top 20 Tallica song of all time. Its a ballad, and opens up and goes like "Fade To Black" and "One", but isn't as good as either. It is still absolutely great though. If One and Fade were non-existent, this song would probably get the recognition they get, or so i believe. Good soft opening, gets you feelin kina what teh songs about, then goes to some hard rockin! "LEAVE ME BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" omg when james is singing that, everyones doin their thing... guitars boomin loud in your ears.... oo i love it!
--- In conclusion, Battery: 7.5 - 8/10 (not sure) - Harder Song
Master of Puppets: 10/10 - Faster Song - Best On Album
The Thing That Should Not Be: 7/10 - Hard and slow, Repetitive
Sanitarium 8.5/10 - Has everything!
