Well I heard songs like Enter sandman, sad but true, Dissapear, St. anger. So I bought st. anger then the black album and I was blown away by it all and now I have all 10 albums plus the live shit box set and it's all good :)

It's a great album, and the orchestra does really well on Bleeding me, outlaw, Until it sleeps, the intro to Devil but too much orchestra on Enter Sandman, Fuel, and Sad but true. I can't hear the band in certain parts. Bellz could have had a stronger presence from the part to overpower the orchestra.

S&M did have some bad choices for songs that really didn't fit at ALL with the orchestra (Fuel, Devil's Dance, Sad But True) and others were notably missing (Unforgiven (why the fuck not?) Fade to Black (no-brainer), Sanitarium and others).

However, considering the actual production, it was an incredible show, telling people what magic can happen when people get inspired. It's a definite must for any progressive metal fan or Metallica fan in general.

Hi, I just read in a German-Metallica-Forum that a part of the Salt Lake City -gig (22.11.04) will be in a movie that probably is going to be called "The Darwin Awards" with David Arquette, Joseph Fiennes, Winona Ryder.
James told the fans to smile and be a part of this movie before they played "Sad but true".
Has anyone been to the Salt Lake City - concert? Is this information true? Just wondering about it!

come on man i personally was takin the piss (refer to my earlier post on this thread comparing the two bands) but i cant speak for the other two ppl. so chill out, no need for the name calling. :)

But when you said "Flame Bait" it was as if you were part of this "Let's get maiden Fan Annoyed" MasterPlan. But all you said was "Sad But True".

So i was really ranting against the other guys. :-/

I love the Black Album and I really cannot understand why some people would call this "lame." With songs like Sandman, Sad But True, The Unforgiven, Don't Tread on Me(I agree that this is very underrated), Nothing Else Matters, Of Wolf and Man, and The God That Failed this is definitely not "lame". The other songs are all very good too, theres not a bad song on the album. Im not gonna say this is their best since I haven't listened to all of their albums, but this is an awesome album.

Bob Rock has encouraged Metallica to do some cool shit and somethings he got them to do sounded like shit. One thing that was cut out of the Year and Half video was in the making of Don't Tread On Me, the original way James played the intro he didn't include those bends. But Bob asked him about them and they ended up putting them in and it sounds a lot better with them. Unfortunately Bob didn't get his way with Kirk's backing guitar part in Sad But True. When the chorus comes in Kirk is playing a really fucking cool progression in the background. You can hear it great live but it isn't very prominant on the album version.

I dont listen to old school rap, i probly wouldn't like it, but i'd just live and let live in that case; but all this new rap is the same like 4-note tune with some shit lyrics that dont even have to rhyme any more. Have you noticed how many rap songs are using rock riffs and other riffs? Like sad but true, crazy train, Imperial death march( star wars), and master of puppets? they cant even think of their own tunes any more! I go to an all white school and the only thing worse than a racist black, is a self hating white! I cant get over all these kids failing out of school intentianly and dressing "gangster." These rappers arent even tough, all they do is sing tough, i'd like to see one of them in a thrash metal club! But... I take assurance in that rap is only a fad, Heavy metal and Rock and roll have stood the test of time and made it through all the fads pop culture could throw at it.

On a more seriuos not: Rest in piece "Dimebag" Derrel, today hell's black gates claimed one of Metals great guitarists, but today Metal has also struck its swift vengence on his killer.

I notice a few MP3 reviews from livemetallica.com, and after I got the Toronto show (my 3rd show)I knew I had to add another one.

Blackened: Whats new? We always open up with Blackened. The guitar start building and the crowd goes crazy. I have 2 other livemetallica.com MP3's, so thats what I'll use to compare. In comparison to the others, this sounds the exact same. It still packs a punch though.

Fuel: I hate this song. I used to like it, now I think they should take this song and destory it. Forget about it. Replace it with ..Justice or Ktulu or Sandman or sometin. NO MORE FUEL!

Wherever I May Roam: Normally I find this song OK, but in this show it it 10x better. Live this song is great. It is alot of fun to listen to, and its one of the songs greatly enhanced by being played live

Unforgiven: Normally I hate this song. I find it annoying, the guitar, James' voice.. But as with "Roam" I love this version. It is probably the best thing to listen to in this show. The highlight.

Sad but True: This is one of those songs you play for the crowd. Everyone is singing along. We love it! Same thing again... I like this song live.. Nothing special on The Black Album

No Leaf Clover: I have never heard this song besides S&M, I wanted to see what it is like without the orchestra.. And it was real cool. I was expecting alot from this one.. And I got alot.

Frantic and St.Anger: Im just gunna review these together. These are the two St.Anger songs that are played almost every show. I thing Frantic sounds nice live in all the shows I have had... St.Anger I just... do not like.

Jungle Essance: This is Rob's bass doodle. The opening bit of it is pretty cool, and interesting. It gets better as it goes along and then suddenly you get Orion. OMG it is amazong to hear Rob play it! One day they shold just play Orion :)

Thats my review of this concert so far. This is asically the first disc minus Fade to Black. That is coming up tomorrow. In comparison to the other two concerts so far, this one is much, much better than both.
