AARGH!!! Try listening to a few of their songs (Lyrics-wise) and they also have such hits like "The Evil That Men Do" which is about men doing crime and being remembered (Hitler, etc.) that aint fantasy.

Wasted Years is about Wasting your life and remembering back on the few good points in life. That aint Fantasy.

Alexander The great is about, obviously Alexander The Great. That aint fantasy.

Most of Fear of the Dark album is about Fear and running away and shit.

I could name SOOO many more if you wanted to. actually you guys are probably just judging your stupid "Dungeons and Dragons" bollox, by Number of the beast and their covers (Which are sooooo much better than Metallicas)

So don't judge a book by their cover, 'caus it's just ignorant.

PS: Metallica were inspired my Maiden.  ;) Second of All, iquite like that fantasy feel, gives an epic atmospheric sound. :)

Another thing, it's so amazing how you talk about 'tallica so passionatly, yet when we do the same with maiden, you go on about how cheesey they are. Try stating some fact.

Also, Try listening to the "music" part of it to. It would help.

I've listened to every single song up to and including the Fear of The Dark album and apart from all sounding the same they are lyrically so inferior to Metallica that there shouldn't even be a comparison.

I'll give you the covers. Their covers are good. Fortuneately i don't buy albums because of their covers as i have a mental age of more than nine years old(no valentine from Neverland for me, awww).

I think they are cheesy because they look like Spinal Tap, sound like a drill tap and annoy me like a constantly dripping tap.

They are two different bands, unworthy of comparison.

Why should it be laughed at?

WHAT?

What the fucks a mandrake? Why should i care?

I think, in an argument about talent, shouldn't a lyric be a reasonable comeback? I'm not just saying "Maiden Suck".They aren't even that good, but i will try to show you why.

Metallica write about life, love, pain, joy, sorrow, suffering and put it all to brilliant music at their own personal suffering and internal conflict. Sure they are rich, but they still release brilliant music.

Maiden write about fantasy role playing, which,if it is your thing is fine. But it is a niche. They have the Dungeons and Dragons market well cornered and good luck to them. just don't ever mention them in the same(motor)breath as the best there is....thanks :)

The whole of stairway to heaven is a masterpiece! ;)

Some of my fave song lyrics...

Green Day - Jesus Of Suburbia

"Everyone's so full of shit
Born and raised by hipocrits
Hearts recycled but never saved
From the cradle to the grave
We are the kids of war and peace
From Anaheim to the middle east."

Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends

"here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are."

Guns And Roses - Nevember Rain

"'Cause nothin' lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it's hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain."

Incubus - Pardon Me
(one of my fave at the moment)

"So pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of this world and it's
people's mindless games."

Iron Maiden - The Evil That Men Do

"Love is a razor and I walked the
line on that silver blade."

Led Zeppelin - Dazed And Confused

"Been Dazed and Confused for so long it's not true
Wanted a woman  never bargained for you.
Lots of people talk and few of them know
Soul of a woman was created below. Yeah!"

and the whole of the song really!! ;)

Led Zeppelin - The Battle Of Evermore

"The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ring wraiths ride in black,"

Metallica - ...And Justice For All

"Lady Justice Has Been Raped
Truth Assassin
Rolls of Red Tape Seal Your Lips
Now You're Done in
Their Money Tips Her Scales Again
Make Your Deal
Just What Is Truth?i Cannot Tell
Cannot Feel!"

Metallica - Disposable Heroes ;D

"Life planned out before my birth, nothing could I say
Had no chance to see myself, molded day by day
Looking back I realize, nothing have I done
Left to die with only friend
Alone I clench my gun"

Metallica - Dont Tread On Me

"so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war"

thats enough for now!! ;D

there are loads more but i will do them another time!

so buy buy!! ;)
