I think this is from the civil war not the revolutionary war

It's not an argument, it's a fact. The Simpsons weren't referencing Metallica, they were referring to history, the revolutionary war. Thats where the symbol of the snake and the Dont Tread On Me motto came from.

I really like almost every song from the black album. I'd rate this album a 9.6 out of 10. You got the Unforgiven, NEM, Sandman, Wherever i may roam, Of wolf & man, and more great songs (which I really like) such as My friend of misery or Through the never. Some of the heavy songs like Dont tread on me, Holier than thou or The struggle within, i think, are really amazing; i just don't understand why some people don't like these songs.

They have played dyers eve several times this tour. They have not played all of to live is to die except for a shortened doodle on the justice tour. The songs they havent played are struggle within, escape, orion, frayed ends of sanity (full version, i think), dont tread on me and a handful of songs from load and reload.

Great review... strangly most of them are among my fave songs e.g. dont tread on me is one of the best tallica songs as well as TLITD! fucking great! ;D

I realize Metallica albums are political, but they arent aimed at any particular person, or event. The songs are more general. And most of the songs that came off as anti-war were about vietnam most likely, there wasn't a war going on at the time aside from a couple raids to get hostages. Thats why Metallica has such a huge fan-base, because they can right these politicaly charged songs and stay politicaly neutral."Dont Tread On ME" was released around the time of the gulf war which was Bush seniors war. The song was fairly patriotic, even though it could be argued that the song was mocking America, which is possible, but i doubt that and most other people would say that the song was patriotic. So, in short, Metallica has made a career out of being political, but the songs are so general that almost anyone could agree with them.
